South Carolina-based hybrid cable/telco operator Comporium is leasing the TiVo Premiere box, which delivers Comporium digital cable channels, including HD, and Internet VOD. Comporium cable TV customers will need to subscribe to the company's HD DVR service, high-speed Internet and have either a wired or wireless connection.
Comporium has been testing the TiVo Premiere for several months following its arrangement with Evolution Digital, which is an authorized provider for TiVo. Evolution Digital already provided Comporium with its low-cost DTA converter when Comporium upgraded its Basic Plus tier to digital from analog in 2009. Evolution Digital is now selling TiVo Premiere boxes to more than 30 cable operators throughout North America.
