Liberty is a HD uDTA, designed in a semi-permanent installation form factor. Affixes to the wall, in place of standard F81 coax wall plates. It is HD/SD MPEG-4/2, Motorola and Cisco compliant, supports multiple tiering and RF4CE technology. “In our deployments of millions of DTAs in the field, we see a common trend that operators face. There is a subscriber base that doesn’t want a box added to their TV. Also, with the previous DTA form factor, which typically installs to the subscribers personal home entertainment equipment (such as TVs), MSO’s are experiencing upwards of 30% equipment shrinkage during churn. With higher value HD devices, this needs to be taken even more seriously,” explains Brent Smith, President of Evolution Digital. Evolution Digital realizes HD as a baseline now, everyone needs it. The Liberty enables HD everywhere as a way to future proof the installation of cable TV service in the home, and ensures that the operator is the “first in line” to acquire new customers, whenever a subscriber churns. The Liberty supports RF4CE remote control technology, so it can be hidden behind TV stands or bookcases, and out of site of the subscriber. It also allows various devices, such as cable modems, and PVR’s to be connected through the bypass port. This device is a “swiss army knife”, taking the basic wall plate installation concept that subscribers are comfortable with and enhancing the technology into the wall plate form factor for multiple purpose. Evolution Digital will be demonstrating its full line of SD and HD DTAs, including the new Liberty device, at the Cable-Tec Expo in booth #1975.
