Evolution's DTA Answers Comporium's Goal to Expand HD Offering

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (Dec. 16, 2008) - Evolution Digital, LLC, a leading supplier of digital solutions for bandwidth reclamation and next generation advanced set-top boxes, has been selected to provide Comporium, a cable TV operator based in Rock Hill, S.C., with digital to analog (DTA) converters. The converters allow Comporium's customers who have analog TVs to continue to view its Basic Plus tier of channels that have been converted to digital transmission.

While Comporium provides its Basic Plus customers with one legacy full-featured digital set-top box at no additional charge, customers must pay a monthly fee for each additional converter. The Evolution DTA not only provides digital quality audio and video performance capabilities, it also allows Comporium to provide a more affordable option to its customers.

"Because of the increasing popularity of high-definition (HD) TV programming and growth of HD TV sales, we have a lot of demand for more HD channels," said Comporium Executive Vice President of Cable TV Operations Bill Beaty.

"Evolution Digital's DTA solution was the answer to our desire to reclaim analog bandwidth that allows us to quickly expand our HD and digital offerings," said Beaty. "The additional benefit is that we can provide the DTA for $3.45 per month less than our legacy full featured converter to our customers who will need converters for their additional TV sets."

Comporium conducted a thorough analysis and testing process of the many DTA solutions available in the market, and chose Evolution based on the following points:

1. Picture quality, the composite output in addition to modulated output

2. Enhanced analog experience because of the channel information guide and "Now/Next" program information capability

3. Ease of self-install with no need for customer action to authorize the box

4. The availability of the product

Since its introduction only eight months ago, Evolution Digital now has more than 100,000 DTAs deployed throughout North America, not including DTAs currently deployed in field trials and DTAs on purchase order for future deployment.
