WOW goes all-digital with Evolution DTAs

WOW is going all-digital through the use of universal DTAs it is buying from Evolution Digital.

WOW will also be the first beneficiary of a new Evolution program that provides deployment support to its MSO customers . Evolution will manage the DTA deployment logistics to the operators' specifications. In WOW's case, Evolution will be managing shipping from the factory, sorting and assigning DTAs. Evolution will work with existing logistics and shipping partners to use regional hubs to deliver DTAs.

MSO customers will be able to put their brands on the self-install kits shipped to their subscribers.

WOW plans to reclaim its analog bandwidth and use it to launch more HD channels and other advanced services.

Evolution said it won the order after WOW evaluated several converters for use on its Cisco network. (Evolution DTAs can work in both the Cisco and Motorola environments.)

WOW CTO Cash Hagen said: "Beyond the fact that they offer a fully certified product, Evolution demonstrated to us their commitment to building a high-quality product, which also includes a Factory to Home fulfillment program. The Evolution Fulfillment program enables us to rapidly deploy uDTAs in fully branded self-install kits in a short period of time."
