Evolution Digital to Maintain Focus on Converting Cable Operators to All-Digital Platforms
CENTENNIAL, Colo. — Feb. 18, 2010 — Evolution Digital, LLC, a leading supplier of digital solutions for bandwidth reclamation and next-generation advanced set-top boxes, announced today it will remain an independent company following the acquisition of Evolution Broadband by PPC®. Evolution Digital will continue to focus on selling and developing products designed for cable operators to convert their systems to an all-digital video platform, freeing up enormous bandwidth for advanced services.
“As pioneers in digital terminal adapter (DTA) development, with the first DTA to receive a product waiver through the FCC, we are excited about the direction of Evolution Digital,” said Chris Egan, principal of Evolution Digital. “We are now offering a full line of DTAs which includes next-generation, extremely compact SD DTAs, HD DTAs, Universal DTAs, and MPEG-4 SD DTAs. Evolution Digital’s solution offering doesn’t stop with DTAs, we also have a full, turnkey headend solution with innovative, next-generation set-top boxes through partnerships with companies like TiVo®.”
“This is an exciting time in the cable industry, many operators are embarking on their digital transition this year,” explains Brent Smith, president of Evolution Digital. “Evolution Digital has developed solutions to support both small and large cable operators through their transition to all-digital. Once operators complete their digital transition, Evolution Digital focuses on supplying next-generation products and technology that will catapult cable operators to success in their competitive landscape.”
PPC, a leading manufacturer of connector and filter technology, and Evolution Broadband, a leading supplier of home distribution and innovative drop systems, have been partners for three years and have agreed to definitive terms of an acquisition. The transaction is expected to close within the next 30 to 60 days. Evolution Digital will continue as a standalone organization led by Chris Egan and Brent Smith. All current contracts and partnerships with TiVo, Conax®, and various manufacturing partners will remain completely intact.
